This is true. However it is very important that you know what these coverages protect you from. Below are the available car insurance coverage in Texas.

Bodily Injury Liability- This type of coverage pays for other peoples bodily injuries which you are responsible of. This may also provide assistance when it comes to legal assistance when the other party file a lawsuit against you. It may also cover medical bills, loss of income or pain and suffering. In Texas, the minimum bodily injury liability limits you are required to carry is $25,000 per person up to $50,000 for more than one person per accident.

Property Damage Liability – This type of coverage pays if you damage someone else’s property in an accident such as house, fence, etc. It is advisable to get sufficient amount of this coverage. In Texas, the minimum property damage liability limits you are required to carry is $25,000 per accident.

Comprehensive coverage- This is an optional coverage. This covers your car resulting from any losses other than collision. It covers your car if it gets stolen, damaged by fire, flood, fire or animals.

Collision coverage- This is an optional coverage as well. This pays damage to your car if you vehicle is damaged due to collision to another vehicle or object.
